This morning’s walk

I brought the camera along on this morning's (somewhat chilly) dog walk.  I went through the ravine to the creek-side path.  I don't often take the dog and the camera together — it's not easy taking photos while trying to hold a beagle straining on the leash because something (probably a black lab's poop) smells so delicious and, of course, whatever it is is ALWAYS just six inches beyond the limits of the leash.  I had a few out of focus shots, but managed a few.

See the bug in the thistle flower?  I'm not sure what those other flowers are (I wonder where my Wisconsin Wildflower book is?), but they're so pretty — I just love the color (hm, wanting to repaint the downstairs bathroom…)!  I must have a thing for bell- or trumpet-shaped flowers.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!  It's generally a pretty quiet neighborhood, but with school having started yesterday… it's WAY quiet!  I have some stuff to do around the house, then some errands in the early afternoon (yarn store on the list!), then back at the house for an appointment, and then… some knitting?  Could it be???

  1. Despite being weeds, thistles are fabulous. I am glad to hear you are doing well with your baby off to college. Being closer to home helps, I’m sure. Go you and your knitting self, I just started the kids’ winter hats seeing as the cold season in Montana starts, oh, next week. Can’t wait to see what’s on your needles!

  2. we are on the same wavelength — I have a bunch of paint chip color samples taped to the walls, including some lilac in my little bathroom!

  3. I love the thistle shots. I think it is neat that there is a bug in all three photos- a small green bug in the thistle and a wasp/bee in the bell flowers.
