Walk this way

A while back — after all the hot and all the rain — the weeds (and everything) really started to grow! I love our brick walkways, but so do the weeds!

That's a creeping thyme settling in and it stays. There's a big patch planted way over to the left, outside the frame of the photo — over a small V-shaped area (planted mostly with a variety of succulents) and another width of walkway. I leave whatever chicks roll off the hens and into the cracks, too.

I'd weeded half of this "V" a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to the other half last night. I think someone mentioned that they'd take care of the big weeds (a couple have thorns) out front of I'd take care of this.

Sounded like a good deal to me! I always like to hose off the bricks when I'm finished.

Happy weekend!

  1. I hate weeding. Hate it. My two sisters-in-law, who have a cleaning business and clean my house every other week, also offer gardening services and I pay them to weed. It’s horribly indulgent but it makes me so happy.

  2. There is something very satisfying about pulling weeds and sweeping the walk. The textures and colors of your walkway are rich like a tapestry or mosaic. Now you need to take some time to relax and breath a little.

  3. I know it’s kind of weird, but I LOVE weeding. I find it mindful and relaxing. That said, I don’t do it all that often. . . but when I do — I get a lot of satisfaction out of it! Your brick walkway is so lovely.

  4. I love brick sidewalks but my husband grouses that they would be impossible to shovel easily in the winter. What’s your secret?
