And the Oscar goes to…

We won't know until The Oscars are presented on Sunday, March 2nd, and I'll be better informed about the Best Picture nominees this year than ever!

I love awards shows, especially The Oscars, and I love movies! I've gone to a fair number of movies in the past year but, incredibly, not a single movie on the list of nominees for Best Picture!

This year, beginning tomorrow and continuing next Saturday, I'll be attending a Best Picture Film Festival at our local movie theater. I have never done anything like that before and I'm pretty excited.

I really have to get a simple knitting project on the needles because I don't know if my hands can be still for that long. I don't usually knit when I go to the movies, but don't usually see four (or five) at a time, either!

It sounds a little crazy.

Here's the line-up for tomorrow:

  • Nebraska
  • Captain Phillips
  • Gravity – 3D
  • The Wolf of Wall Street

Next Saturday:

  • Philomena
  • Her
  • 12 Years a Slave
  • American Hustle
  • Dallas Buyers Club

It is a little crazy.

  1. That is SO awesome and I wish we had something like that her! I have seen everything but Her, Nebraska and The Wolf of Wall Street. My favorite so far is Philomena but I don’t think that has a shot in hell of winning.

  2. Have fun. Though don’t forget to bring a small directed light. (Book lights usually work for me.) There’s nothing more annoying than making a mistake that you can’t see to correct.

  3. Have fun! I always take my “standard” dishcloth knitting into the movies with me.
Another suggestion for you that seems timely is a “Kicking Bag for Babies”

It’s a simple knit & has been a very useful gift for friends. In fact, I think I’ll be casting on for another one in the near future.
With as much movie time as you have in the theater, it could probably be off the needles as you finish your movie marathon. 🙂

  4. Very crazy, but very fun! Knitting will be a good idea. We saw American Hustle and it’s great! I would love to see Philomena and several others on the list. Let us know how it goes.

  5. My son (the actor)is all about The Oscars. I think the only Best Film nominee he hasn’t seen is “Philomena.” He ADORED “Nebraska.” And he and I are both upset but the absence of “All Is Lost.”

  6. I’m always behind on Oscar nominated movies. I did see American Hustle, though, and loved it. Hoping to see Nebraska soon.
