This sleepy kitty still needs a face, and this dress is more like a top (oops! I will be fixing forthwith), but OMG how adorable is that??

Thanksgiving 3TT / 23
Kids, woods, family, thankful.
I am thankful for my husband! He made pies this morning, carved the turkey this evening, and is doing clean up!
I am thankful for my daughters! Maddy & Kate, along with Rusty, took the kids on a walk in the woods this afternoon so that Ali could take a nap!
I am thankful for my grandkids! They are more delightful every single day… and come March, they'll welcome a sibling!!
There is so much to be grateful for, but nothing tops this. Happy Thanksgiving!
Unraveled Wednesday / 22
KNITTING.
Currently on my needles is a Sleepy Kitten! On my list since I first cracked Making No. 4 / Lines, I started on Sunday. This is where I stopped last night, and will be knitting in the arms when I pick it up again tonight. I've had more than my share of false starts when it comes to knitting toys — the fiddly bits aren't so bad, but the SEWING UP is where I lose it. Susan B. Anderson designed these kittens in such a way that the fiddly bits are knitted in as you go… brilliant!

READING. Here's what's on my list right now:
- Population 485 / Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time – pages. I am re-reading this oft-recommended long-time favorite memoir set in New Auburn, WI. Author Michael Perry is also a cast member in the stage adaptation of his book, and we have tickets to a January performance in Oshkosh! I've been wanting to pick it up again for a long time, now, and there could hardly be a better reason.
- Yellow Crocus - audio. If all goes well, I may finish today!

COOKING.
My house smelled amazing last night! I'd never heard of Make-Ahead Gravy until Carole posted about it the other day. Personally, I prefer butter on my potatoes, but Rusty loves gravy, so I thought I'd give it a try this year. So far, so good! Also, pork chops and zoodles w/fire-roasted tomatoes was what's for dinner.

Weekending / 20
As mentioned yesterday, I did a little cleaning & organizing. I identified two specific areas in desperate need of attention.
This is a lovely old but rickety bamboo shelf unit in a corner of the kitchen that used to see a bit more action because it's where the phone is located. You can see a couple of phone books; they've never been cracked, so they're now in Recycling. There's also a personalized Phone List, which I had on the computer and used to updated on the regular, but it's been YEARS, so also recycled. Pens, pencils, paper, calendars, recipes, a few (ahem) greeting cards, cycling stuff.
It's not perfect, but it's better. I added a LOT to the recycling bin yesterday. The phone is still "located" here, but it's unplugged more often than not. The only reason it's still on the wall is because it would leave a mark if removed, and I'm not prepared to deal with that right now. Because of "bundling," it's cheaper to have the phone than not… it's probably even cheaper if I added cable TV back in… but all I really want is internet. The phone drives me nuts, even with Nomorobo activated, and it makes me feel ill when I think about surfing through all those cable channels that I don't care about; it's been 6 or 7 years since I cut that cord, and I don't miss it a bit.
This is an old drop-leaf table that Rusty had when we got married. It's located just kitty-corner from the shelf above. It usually starts out with some sort of display, but quickly becomes a catch-all!
I even found some Christmas stuff (from the contingent in Spain) from last year!
I finished seaming my Abulón cowl at Knit Night on Thursday, and gave it a soak yesterday. It was on our bed to dry, but it's going to take a while, so moved it to the upstairs bedroom. Maybe a Unraveled Wednesday debut??
