Just as last year, the kids were here. And, just as last year, Junah stayed up until midnight Eastern (11 Central) to watch the ball drop on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve — and so did all the other kids!! And then we all (except for Davy, who faded out with just a few minutes left) stayed up until midnight Central to watch the celebration in Chicago, which looked pretty amazing from the drone shots of the river & fireworks from multiple bridges. In the words of Ginny: “Yeah, New York could have done better.”
While we watched, I finished my last knitting project of 2025!
Another SNAP hat for Junah — the first one was just a bit too snug (but will fit the girls). I haven’t blogged about that… stay tuned for the next installment of Unraveled Wednesday!
Today, we just relaxed…
…this kind of vibe. The kids went home after lunch. I took a nap. It’s been a PJ Day, and I’m just fine with that. I’ll rejoin the rest of the world tomorrow.
I do it in words (the first sentence of the first post of each month) and in pictures (a favorite posted photo from each month) โ the two are not necessarily related.
Much of my free time โ everyoneโs around here โ since mid-February has been spent on cleaning, cleaning out, fixing up, and remodeling an old house (ca. 1880).
Iโm back! Travels went smoothly, even with a new airport opening in Lima (arrived at the old, departed from the new); Addison is a graduate, I had a nice visit, enjoyed some wonderful meals, and there was lots of love & laughter.
Last โweekendโ (Thurs-Sat), we all headed up north โ not quite as north as we usually go, but right aroundย US Hwy 8, so totally acceptable to any Wisconsinite.ย
Junahโs hat was finished this afternoon, washed & is dryingโฆ jury is still out. Itโs a little small, which isnโt the end of the world because it will definitely fit someone elseโฆ and it was a SUPER quick knit, so I can easily whip out another.
I didnโt get to the cuffs of Davyโs mittens, but he โtried them onโ and they fitโฆ just wound some yarn this evening to get going with that. One of four mittens caught the fancy of Kai, so Iโm glad I made extra!
Our big holiday hullabaloo was this afternoon/evening, so the next four days are all about relaxing, finishing some things, packing away most of Christmas, readying the Airbnbs, making scalloped potatoes & ham (with the leftovers from today) (yum), and connecting/spending time with each other.
Two pairs of Snowball Throwinโ Mittensโฆ one slightly larger than the other. Currently propped against the heat register in the kitchen to finish drying. I havenโt decided what yarn(s) Iโll use for the cuffs. Meanwhile, Iโm about halfway through a beret for Malina. And probably casting on a hat for Junah tomorrow.
