Joining Kat & friends again this week…
I can't even remember the last time I sat down to knit! I'm sure it's only been a few days, but seems like forever. I am still hoping to make a Sleepy Kitten for Jün before Christmas. I want to make another dress for Gin's, too, but the deadline is looser for that.
When I have had a chance to sit & knit lately, it's been for short periods and/or full of distraction, so I've been knitting mindless scrappy color-blocked near-rectangles that will eventually turn into slippers.
I did finish the Freak Flags!! Those are all the ends… very satisfying. The flags are flying at the shop but, of course, no photo.
READING.
- Population 485 / Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time - pages. The final, devastating, beautiful chapter remains to be read.
- You Don't Have to Say You Love Me - audio. I really didn't have any idea what to expect, other than I like a good memoir and it was highly rated, but I love this book so much — I especially love listening to Sherman Alexie read his own (sometimes crushing) story.
On Deck:
- I'm not sure, but it's Jólabókaflóð season and I'm participating in the third (I think) swap with some friends, so a new book should be arriving soon! I also had a few books on my Christmas list. I may need something to fill a few days… I suppose I could always slog through a few more pages of Hillbilly Elegy. Nah… more likely, I'll be scrapping that one altogether. I really can't stand it.
Bonus: WATCHING.
- Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I saw this on Monday night and it's the best movie I've seen in a while… I loved it, and the casting was amazing! I can't wait to watch it again at the Best Picture Festival. Sad & surprising & funny & desperate & sweet.
I say the same thing every year, “Why didn’t I start sooner?” I don’t do a lot of gift knitting, but around Dec. 1st the desire to knit something for the boys for Christmas hits me, and then I scramble. One-third of a mitt to finish for Ryan, then wrapping, packing, and standing in line to send his gifts and I’ll feel a little better. A cowl for Justin is easy, but I know I’ll be frantically knitting on it, too. Your ends are quite pretty and Three Billboards sounds intriguing. Have fun with Sleepy Kitten and knitting in whatever time you can find!
I am sending you all the super fast knitting mojo I can so a Sleepy Kitten is completed! XO
We saw Three Billboards last night. Awfully good — and so full of twists and turns and surprises. And the dialogue! WOW. I can’t wait to see those freak flags flying! Bet they add the perfect touch to the NEW shop! XO
I haven’t seen anything but positive comments about “Three Billboards.” My son says I need to see the new “Star Wars” (as a theater manager, he got a pre-screening), and I think “The Shape of Water” looks fascinating.
Sending sweet kitty knitting mojo your way! (and ugh, I’m sorry about Hillbilly Elegy … haven’t started it yet, but still thinking I definitely need to read it.)
Three Billboards looks excellent. Good luck with what you want to get done! I’m behind this year, but not stressed about it (which is really weird, but good). I, too, want to see the freak flags flying!
I could not get myself to read HE. Anyway. I agree with you on Three Billboards! Laurie and I saw it and we talked about it for 2 weeks. SO good, so discussion worthy!
