I'm joining Kat & the Unravelers today for Unraveled Wednesday!
KNITTING:
Actually, it's going better than I realized! I thought I was about half-way with the ends, but the photo I took this morning tells the tale!
Might I dare to dream that it'll be an FO at this time next week?!
It's still somewhat daunting, even at this stage, but I just keep plugging away.
The recipient & his dad were supposed to fly from Lima on Thursday but have been delayed because, as a minor, Mack needed written permission from his mom! Ann's not too sad about it all, and the boys will wait until after Mack's 18th (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) birthday* next week, meanwhile getting paperwork/permission together for Addie… because he'll need permission from his dad to fly in a couple of weeks with Ann.
READING:
I haven't quite finished Trespasses yet. Why We Cook: Women on Food, Identity, and Connection is excellent bedtime reading… and I'm in no hurry.
Kate & I went to Minneapolis last weekend and, besides food, books became a focus… she's been percolating a project in which books play a part, and we had just attended a very successful workshop with Ali where we MADE our own books. One of the best shops we visited was Magers & Quinn Booksellers. There are so many, though, we didn't even scratch the surface. I came away with a great book about making books, and a nice little haul for the kiddos, too!
*Somehow, I also have a daughter celebrating 10 years of marriage this month! How??

Vicki, have you considered weaving the ends in as you go? That way, when you are done, you are done!
It’s going to be lovely none the less.
Ann
Oh my golly! SO.MANY.ENDS!
But, it is going to be gorgeous when you are done.
Magors & Quinn — I haven’t thought about them in years, but I used to frequent their shelves when I lived nearby. (On James Avenue between Lake Street and 31st Street.) What a great treasure of a store!
Your bookmaking workshop and your recent travels with Kate sound like so much fun! And the blanket – YIKES!! What a lot of ends. But go you…slow and steady will do it. Itwill be one amazing gift!
I kind of like weaving in ends, but I’m afraid that I would get tired after a couple of rows. It looks great and how has Mack gotten to be 18 so quickly? I remember indigo dying at Auntie camp eight years ago and it seems that both boys have gotten older in that time!
OMG – indigo DYEING!
That is a lot of ends! This is often while I weave in as I go. I know it takes the same amount of time regardless of when you do it, but somehow it feels like it takes longer when I wait until the end of the project. I’m sure you’ll get it done in plenty of time, though, and Mack is going to love it!
Can you even believe that Mack and Ambrynn will both turn 18 this week?!? She graduated from high school last month and it’s just surreal to me. The blanket is wonderful and I wish you stamina as you plug away at all those ends.
oh Vicki, those ends … are making ME anxious! I do hope you’ve finished most of them by now! (and yep, same here – Katie & Rob celebrated TEN years last month – how does this happen??!!)
Oh those ends… I am sending you some extra end-weaving juju to get it done! You can do it! 🙂
Ugh to the ends . . . Whenever I make a project with lots of ends, I try to “make myself” weave them in every now and then as part of the ongoing progress. But that advice is a little too late for you now! 😉 You’re making good progress — and it won’t be long and you’ll be all finished with that tedious and distasteful business. And my goodness!!! Time FLIES. XO
