Actually, it was more like buzz-buzz…
Ali & Davy came over on Friday morning and we drove out to Hortonville to check out Kate’s new Dovetail digs at Standard Projects in Hortonville, which also houses a custom frame shop & vintage clothing store.
From there, we walked down to Alley Cat Coffeehouse for lunch, which was delicious!
On the way, we noticed a barbershop…
…and just happened to have someone in our party in desperate need of a haircut!
It was Davy’s first time in an actual barber’s chair!
I had all the kids for a few hours on Saturday — another nice day, so we spent a fair bit of time outside. Kate & Junah pumped up tires & hopped on bikes for the first spin around the ‘hood of the season. With road construction starting soon on the other half of the neighborhood, the route will be pretty limited for the rest of the summer.
My electrician had scheduled work just a few blocks away on Saturday, and stopped by afterward to install a receptacle for our new range hood, which Rusty & I installed on Sunday!
I have dreamt of this day for years, and I’m so happy to finally have a hood! It can’t be ducted outside, which would be ideal, but I have installed carbon filters… and it just has to be better than nothing!
What a PITA installation, though. Nowhere in the directions did they address connecting power, which turned out to be more than a little frustrating. Luckily, patience reigned! After a failed Round One, we came up with a plan, took a break, and then dove in to finish (we ended up detaching the chimney from the ceiling mount in order to feed the cord up & plug it into the outlet).
Other than that, a little putzing, a cat nap, some knitting. I had to rip out several rows of Maddy’s panel due to a mistake in counting that was throwing off “the curve,” but I got back on track and am sailing along.

Davy does look adorable (both pre & post) but much happier once the haircut is over! Your new hood and stove look wonderful and I commend your skills and patience in installing them. Electrical work is John’s second least favorite thing after plumbing!
a First Barber Haircut is a big deal! I’m glad he did so well and gosh, what a handsome fella. Kudos on the hood install – your kitchen looks fantastic!

What a difference that haircut made! I mean, Davy is a cutie-patootie in any state . . . but he looks so pleased with himself after his big-boy haircut! Love it — and thank you for sharing. XO The range hood looks FAB — but Tom and I would’ve been total Keystone Cops about that installation. . .
