Well, hello!

It’s been a wild & crazy time over here! Events, kiddos, yard/house work, a quick get-away…

I refreshed & reactivated my Airbnb listing right on time (though a couple of photos need to be re-done), and welcomed my first guests on the 11th — and they’re returning this weekend! I’ve had some bookings for football games, as well, and another woman who will be staying in a couple of weeks for the SIXTH time while she visits for her dad’s birthday.

I really love the new living room area. (Click on any photo in the gallery to scroll thru with better views.) I found that pillow at a resale shop & it couldn’t be more perfect!

We installed our new sign, and spruced up the entry porch — I still have a string of lights to install in there. It’s so colorful & inviting (if I may say!).

The former living room is now a… boy, I keep changing what it’s called… entry, library, workspace, studio, music room (or any combination). I think it’s going to be a music room/studio. I even have some art supplies on the way, because… it’s The Artist’s Perch!

The bedroom is truly a restful space where it feels like you’re up in the trees, overlooking the ravine/valley. In addition to having the floors refinished, I bought a comfy new mattress.

The kitchen floor was also refinished, and we switched the direction that the fridge/freezer doors open — which I’m still not used to — and pared down some of the decor/clutter.

I pared down, rearranged & replaced a lot of the dish-/glassware, too.

It’s been fun, but I sure was out of practice & even a little anxious! It’s not like I haven’t continued to take care of Annie’s house & guests all this time. haha.

Kiddos!

I had Malina overnight on a Friday, then Junah & Ginny came over on Saturday and we all went down to the nature center for a geocaching event, which we all really enjoyed.

We found directions for an F1 car made with Knex on Instructables that Junah wanted to build — it was huge! I was happy to assist, fishing for pieces, putting together elements. It’s been a while since we tackled a big project like that.

They were all over again last weekend for a while and we found another car to build — Davy helped us look (and he liked everything!). Coloring is fun, too.

I updated my picture gallery at work the other day.

Ali’s an aide in Davy’s class, so she got a school picture this year, too!

In between everything else, we grabbed the dog, found a dog-friendly Airbnb, and took a little trip up north to Eagle River for a couple of days.

We got a little taste of fall while we were there (the weather continues to be incredibly warm here) — it was chilly, but oh so beautiful! There was even a dense little snow shower for a minute or two!

In other news… early voting starts today in my neck of the woods, so we’ll be doing that today or tomorrow! Only two weeks to Election Day, and I so hope I get to say the words President-elect Harris on my birthday!

  1. Loved your post today, especially the pics of the grands. They grow up soooo fast! Our youngest grand is a senior in HS, and the second oldest just made us greatgrandparents! Hard to believe. I also loved your last paragraph. I hope I can say the same in a couple weeks🤞

  2. Forgot to say that I saw the segment on 60 Minutes about Door County. I had only heard about it from your posts! So much to learn from reading knitting blogs🤣

  3. Oh, Vicki! Your re-fresh looks absolutely divine! It is charming and comfortable — a wonderful space to “perch”for awhile. Nicely done! (And where did you find the whimsical rug in the newly-finished living room?????) (I am shopping for new entry rugs for my house . . . and I think something like that would be perfect.)

And the kids. Oh my goodness! Look at them! Growing up so wonderfully! (My heart.) XO

  4. Your Artist’s Perch looks so charming and inviting! I’d love to stay there! And yay for the kid’s pictures and Ali’s, too. Glad you got to getaway, it’s such a good way to reset . . . everything!

  5. Your refreshed Artist’s Perch looks even lovelier than before! (I’d love to come stay someday.) The grands have grown by leaps and bounds and fall is certainly beautiful in your neck of the woods. Here’s hoping your birthday wish is granted!

  6. Oh Vicki! What an amazing refresh! It is really welcoming and so inviting! (and gosh… I love that rug as well! Gorgeous!) Your fall get away looked amazing! (Snow!! What?? I forget the great north gets much colder!) The kids are all getting so big! Time is just flying!

  7. well HELLO! the Artist’s Perch is beautiful … and I have no plans to visit Wisconsin but when I do, I want to stay there! and just look at those kiddos (and their momma) – growing up so fast – and wow do they look like siblings – glad you have them arranged in rows or I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart – especially the girls!
