12.4: Unraveled Wednesday

Today I’m joining Kat & the Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday!

KNITTING:

I guess I really want to knit some mittens this year… or another eye-catching graphic pattern passed before my eyeballs and I couldn’t resist…

Yeah, that’s it.

Take a look at Di Gilpin’s Sonia and Sophie Mittens !! Absolutely perfect for my leftovers of MDK Atlas (if I can find it).

I’m prepping knitting/projects for a weekend #whirlwindarttripwithkate (#andkai) road trip to Kansas City, so those mittens will be coming along. (We’re leaving tomorrow afternoon, staying overnight in Iowa, arriving KC on Friday, returning home on Monday.)

These yarn balls will also be coming along, destined to be a Gnana Gnome of a slightly different stripe… as in, I want to use this yarn but don’t have enough of any one color (save for natural… I have a shit-ton of that), so I’m going to give her some stripes. We’ll see… the whole thing is a crapshoot, so why not play a little!

I’ll also be bringing the Temp Blanket for seaming. I spent an ungodly number of hours at Ann’s on Monday doing laundry but was otherwise occupied and never got to it.

That might not be enough for a long weekend + 20 hours in the car, y’know… I’m also bringing a sewing project. I’ve had a barely started Alabama Chanin Cropped Pant Kit kicking around, so I’m tossing that in the car, too.

Oh, and I may have started another crochet project… sort of slid in out of left field, as they do.

READING:

I am truly closing in on The Houses In Between… less than 100 pages to go! After that, Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, which also slid in out of left field.

There’s still a mighty pile of emotional support books in the wings.

  1. Emotional support books (along with knitting patterns and yarn) are a necessity! I look forward to hearing about your trip with Kate and Kai.

  2. Happy December! and yay you for another NaNo(De)BloMo 🙂 Looks like your left field has a big ol’ hole in the fence, letting in some very fun stuff … go for it! and since it’s daily blogging, I look forward to following along on your whirlwind trip with Kate and Kai!

  3. You two (three with Kai) always have a fun time…and it certainly looks like you will have plenty to keep you occupied during the car time. Those mittens are FUN and the Alabama Chanin pants are awesome (I hadn’t realized there were pants!). Have fun!!

  4. I hope your weather is issue-free! Have a great time (you three!!) it sounds like your Travel Making plans are well rounded! And I think your Nana group of yarns look perfect together!

  5. That is a Very Long car trip, but I’m going to bet you’ve got your bases covered, Vicki! Enjoy yourselves! XO
