8.8: TGIF

T… time for farewells. Maddy begins her journey home to Australia today.

G… grateful for the time we spend together. We had some big family dinners & getaways & game nights, and I really enjoyed our Northwoods time.

A group of seven people of varying ages poses together on a porch, with some sitting on steps and others standing. A young boy on a bicycle and a girl wearing a helmet are in the front, while adults and children smile in the background.

I… it’s like herding cats! There was no time to set up for a timed photo of all of us — we had to call back a couple of (helmeted) kids as it was. They were already zooming home. haha. (Rusty & I switched places & he took a few photos with that set-up.)

A smiling baby holding a fork while sitting at a table with a floral centerpiece.

F… freakin’ hell. Addison is 18 years old today!! We’ll see him tomorrow (I should bake a cake)!!

  1. Holy Cow, wear do the years go. One minute they are babies and the next eighteen years old. I love the candid family photo. Who needs coordinated clothing and fancy hair. The bike helmets make it all seem real and fun.

  2. I love that family photo; the only thing missing is you! I always say that I should figure out how to use the timer on my camera but I haven’t done it yet, so I’m missing from many of our photos. Happy Birthday to Addison and have fun tomorrow!

  3. What a great family photo. You may not be in it but they’re all looking at YOU and that’s pretty special. Happy 18th birthday to Addison!

  4. That family photo is brilliant — it’s like the camera captured the split second that everyone was in place, right before they moved on. I hope Maddy’s trip back is easy and uneventful.
