MORE KNITTING:

Inspired by Sarah, I cast on some Snowball Throwin’ Mittens .

A partially knitted yellow mitten resting on a patterned black background.

Super quick — the first pair is earmarked for Davy in his favorite color du jour. They’ll be so great for keeping his hands warm & dry while playing in the snow! I had the first mitten knit in just a little more than an evening.

Une main tenant deux mitaines en tricot jaune sur une surface beige.

The second one went even quicker!! Hmm… no wonder… I skipped over a big chunk of repeats for the thumb gusset! I’ll give it a go again tomorrow night (I won’t be knitting tonight during Leslie Odom Jr’s show). I plan to make a pair for Junah, too, at least.

As predicted, I am very much enjoying The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year by Margaret Renkl. Perfect.

  1. ah, Vicki, that beret is so stylish! … and I’ve been pondering those mittens for the dog walkers in my life – what a great pattern!

  2. That beret is beautiful and I’ll look forward to seeing Ginny wearing it! I haven’t had great luck with felting in the past, but I might need to try a pair of those Snowball Throwin’ Mittens myself.

  3. I think that beret is just so dang cute!! I predict Ginny will be the pièce de résistance of Christmas!! Snow ball throwing mittens are a must have! Good for you for knitting a couple of pairs!

  4. What a pretty beret. I love to knit with Rowan Felted Tweed. I predict this gift will be a success. Don’t you hate it when you make a mistake on a straight forward knit? However, that mitten will knit up in no time at all.

  5. The beret . . . c’est magnifique! Can’t wait to see Ginny wearing it!!!! And the mittens look great, Vicki. They’ll be perfect for playing in the snow. XO
