12.12: Lean In

In April, I wrote a random post that included some words about Patrick Martin @patrickmartin (IG) and his song LEAN IN, which had been featured in an episode of the Netflix series Ransom Canyon, and kind of rocked his world for a bit — in a very good way! He is such a nice guy, and just finished a new album, so maybe he’ll hit the chart for 2026, too.

I won’t bore you with ALL of my Spotify Wrapped stats, but here are a few:

  • Top Artists: The Lumineers, Gregory Alan Isakov, Noah Kahan, Teddy Swims, The Red Clay Strays.
  • I listened to 370 genres. Top five: Indie Folk, Delta Blues, Soft Pop, Indie, Oldies.
  • My listening age: 21 (since I was into music from the early 2020s, apparently, which is trending).
  • I listened to 3,199 artists & 6,947 songs.
A close-up view of a car's Apple CarPlay interface displaying the top songs for 2025, featuring the song 'Lean In' by Patrick Martin at 4:55 PM.

I had Apple CarPlay in the Explorer, but it was clunky. It’s practically seamless in the Outback, and the big screen makes everything easy to read. (Still not sure what some of those icons mean.)

My #1 song of 2025, and the whole list!

It’s going to be FRIGID here tomorrow — high of 2℉, which is up a degree from the other day. I had an eye exam yesterday and the receptionist randomly mentioned that the “return of the light” is drawing near. We bonded.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Interesting stats! I had no idea there were 370 genres, let alone listened to that many. Congratulations on your young listening age and I’m glad it’s easier to listen in the new car!

  2. I’m laughing because despite listening to very little music this past year (my daughter really needs to show me how to use Spotify fully), my age was 62!

  3. I think my Spotify Wrapped is broken because my listening age is 75 and yet my number one artist and top 5 albums are all Taylor Swift. LOL
