Ringing in the new

Just as last year, the kids were here. And, just as last year, Junah stayed up until midnight Eastern (11 Central) to watch the ball drop on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve — and so did all the other kids!! And then we all (except for Davy, who faded out with just a few minutes left) stayed up until midnight Central to watch the celebration in Chicago, which looked pretty amazing from the drone shots of the river & fireworks from multiple bridges. In the words of Ginny: “Yeah, New York could have done better.”

While we watched, I finished my last knitting project of 2025!

Another SNAP hat for Junah — the first one was just a bit too snug (but will fit the girls). I haven’t blogged about that… stay tuned for the next installment of Unraveled Wednesday!

Today, we just relaxed…

A young child reading 'Charlotte's Web' in a cozy nook surrounded by plants and decorative items.

…this kind of vibe. The kids went home after lunch. I took a nap. It’s been a PJ Day, and I’m just fine with that. I’ll rejoin the rest of the world tomorrow.

Happy New Year!!

  1. Happy New Year, Vicki!! We did not even consider staying up to watch any of the festivities, it was early to bed here! I am looking forward to your making update, but that is a sweet hat!

  2. You and the kids did better than this old lady! I went to bed at my usual time and woke up with hopes for a better year. It will likely be more of the same, but I need to have hope. I love that last picture!

  3. I fully intended to go to bed earlier on NYE, but someone in my bed was making a racket and I nearly made it to midnight! Sounds like you all had fun — and spending New Year’s Day in PJs just lounging around feels like a good way to set the tone for the new year!

  4. Happy New Year! A PJ kind of day sounds perfect as does reading. I love seeing the next generation pick up Charlotte’s Web. I found a small bag of fingering weight yarn in blues that I set aside for a scrap hat. Once I finish one of my current projects, I’ll cast on a hat, maybe a LOSY.

  5. Happy New Year, Vicki. I made it ALMOST to midnight, but succumbed a bit early. (I’m pretty sure it might have been the Proseco . . . ) I love Junah’s smille – and that perfect hat. But it’s that shot of Davy reading Charlotte’s Web that stole my heart. XO
