I took Friday off so we could attend the kids’ Literacy Fair at school!

We visited their classrooms, first — I made it to everyone’s room except Davy’s. Boy, he looks pooped, doesn’t he? It was a very active, busy morning! Davy wrote his own book, and there’s even a bio page with his picture — absolutely adorable. The other kids each did reports in various forms.

I took a few group pics.

I actually have very few photos from Maddy’s visit. On the one hand, that’s good, no? We were in the moment, living life. On the other hand, I have very few photos from Maddy’s visit.
She’s begun her journey back to Australia, spending a couple of days in Milwaukee before departing Chicago on Tuesday. Miss her already.
I won’t be doing an Unraveled post this week, so am sharing my very exciting knitting news now. I finished the first Farfalle sleeve yesterday!

Oh, those color changes! The second sleeve is underway.
I also cut all the sashing for my quilt yesterday, and sewed the first two rows of blocks together. It’s starting to feel real!!

It’s so wonderful to see kids who live far away, but I used to feel exceptionally sad after seeing Ryan when he lived in CO. I wish Maddy safe travels. I love the family Literacy Fair and your Farfalle sleeve pictures. It’s wonderful to see people smiling and colorful knitting!
Sending Maddy all the good travel juju! I bet that literacy fair was so fun, I love seeing kids loving books! The fabric for your new sweater looks amazing.
It always a bit sad to bid goodbye to a child who lives so very far away. I hope her travels go smoothly. Celebrating a literacy festival is a great thing, especially right now in this country. It looks like the kids enjoyed it and I imagine having you there was special for them.
A literacy fair sounds like such a great event! The colors in your cardigan are so much fun and I hope the second sleeve goes quickly. I also hope Maddy has an easy trip back.
I call it “The Emptiness Feeling” after a kid-visit . . . whenever I leave/they leave. It’s like . . . I’m so happy to have spent time together, but feel so empty after I/they leave again. Sigh. Thinking of you this week. XO
And, Oh!!! What a great school event! I’m so glad you all had a chance to celebrate the Literacy Fair together. Your grandchildren are growing up so marvelously! (I always knew they would . . . )
Oh . . . and That Sweater! Vicki! It’s going to be SO COOL. XO
I am sorry that Maddy is already headed home! That went by way too quickly!! The Literacy Fair looked like amazing fun!! Your sleeves are just gorgeous… Noro yarn is amazing! And I am eager to see your quilt come together!
Hoping and trust that Maddy made it back safely. It’s hard to say goodbye isn’t it? Your Farfalle sleeve looks so pretty. But the Literacy Fair!! Awesome. And Davy wrote his own book? So cool.
