Weekending

Weekending

I spent the entire weekend at home… the furthest I ventured was to the trash/recycling bins!

I posted a similar photo on IG yesterday… this is the wide-angle view! This is where I spent most of my time. It may not look like it, but there was a lot of progress made! It’s a classic case of “it’s gonna get worse before it gets better.” The main thing is that I can see (mostly) unobstructed paths to areas that I need to access.

Stuff — including a lot of yarn — is heading out the door to various locations. I’m not focused on sorting the yarn (yet) but it’s happening along the way. I’ve frogged or otherwise disposed of some very old projects, thereby reclaiming yarn, needles, project bags & totes.

It’s funny how I have avoided getting into spinning for 20+ years, citing the lack of time & space & whatever, but have been so easily captured by other endeavors… that also take up time & space & whatever. Hand sewing? Yeah. Letterpress printing? Oh yeah. (And I can build my own little press, too? Hell yeah!) (And collect old type? Yippee!) Bookmaking? Quilting? Collage? Photography? I know I’m forgetting at least 10 things.

All work & no play makes for a very grumpy me, even when the work is quite fulfilling! So there was plenty of knitting on Ali’s blanket panel, too. There’s about five weeks to go!

I’ll continue plugging away at my workroom, but tonight I’m heading straight out to Ali’s after work to babysit, which should be fun! Next weekend I’m heading to Minneapolis for a few days, but it’s a l-o-n-g weekend, so I’ll still have a couple of days at home to putter… and start clearing off that big table.

Hope you had a great weekend!

  1. 🙂 struck by the contrast in Carole and Dee’s comments …clearly a balance is good in all aspects of how/where you spend your time. Baseball started up for us this past weekend and Lucy’s made a ton of progress to be chill.

  2. I saw the contrast in Dee’s and Carole’s post too – what we focus on/concentrate on differs from person to person. I am SO looking forward to organizing/purging/ordering “things” once I retire. and that’s at the end of this week! Woo-Hoo!!! What are you doing/where are you going in Minneapolis???

  3. Whew, that looks like LOTS of work, Vicki! But rewarding work… I went through yarn earlier this year and reclaimed some things as well! It feels so good! 🙂

Your blanket though… you are making some good headway… 5 weeks seems so little in comparison to the entire project!

  4. I’m inspired by your re-org/culling project, Vicki. I don’t have many unfinished projects laying around (that I can remember . . . ), but I really need to do a good culling of . . . oh, fabrics and yarns and other “ephemera.” Your progress in wonderful! XO
