2024-Amsterdam (& Taylor Swift)

Going off the deep end

So, chatting with my sister Ann one day a few months ago, she mentioned that she’d like to go to a Taylor Swift concert in Miami… to which I replied, NO WAY (in case she was asking me if I’d want to go) (and she was).

Taylor Swift is a phenom, she said, a worldwide superstar, she said, and she’d like to be part of it all. I get it… I regret never going to a Michael Jackson or Prince concert back in the day (or any number of others… I really didn’t go to concerts much at all) (location, location, location) (and also $$).

Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I read an article about a group of women who couldn’t afford tickets for a Taylor Swift concert in the US, so they went abroad. I chuckled & told Annie that I MIGHT consider THAT scenario, depending on the city.

What’s that they say? Give a mouse a cookie…???

Next thing you know, she’s checking her calendar, looking at concert tickets, and we’re booking airfare & lodging…

Ann on FB: Tickets to see Taylor Swift in Amsterdam ✅♥️🎉
What’s most amazing is my sister (who doesn’t even really know or particularly like Taylor Swift *YET*) is coming!! What are you supposed to do when the baby sister just has to go?!?! 😂 Looking forward to it, Vicki!!!!

Now she’s sending me texts to share her favorite songs, asking what are mine (???), sending Spotify playlists, and she just suggested that we try to memorize one song from each era!

It’s rubbing off… I don’t have a favorite song yet, but I am gathering supplies to make Swiftie bracelets!

I’m also playing around with my Provisional Press. There’s some tweaking to do to get some of that type to print properly, but that about sums up the current mood around here!

  1. I can help you with Becoming a Swiftie 101! And making friendship bracelets, too! My first suggestion is to watch the ERAs tour movie on Disney. I am so very jealous.

  2. Life IS short and of course you should buy the tickets AND GO! It’s going to be an EPIC trip!! (p.s. not jealous of you for this particular trip … but at some point I would love to take a 1:1 trip with my sister – thank you for that reminder)

  3. I personally don’t care for Taylor Swift and never have. I have yet to understand the hype, but that’s me. I like the prints ☺️

  4. What a great story! And now I get the print job 🙂
I live with a Swifty, who’s worked a slow drip on me, I’ll admit. A Euro trip would make it drop a lot faster, though!
That’s a fantastic little press, thanks so much for showing it. And I spy a Paper Source bag in your studio….thats some paper store love for me, right there….

  5. No way are you going to Miami but you’ve got tickets for Amsterdam! Life is indeed short and you’ve got the tickets, friendship bracelets, and posters to prove it. Have fun (I know you will)!

  6. I’m sort of meh about Taylor Swift (although I do really like some of her songs), BUT . . . I’d be ALL IN for Amsterdam!!!! I loved my time there — and would go back in a heartbeat. LOVE the printing. So much.

  7. Definitely DO Blame Me and for sure you must have a favorite song by now? If not, then I suggest this: pick out a random song from the Eras show and listen to it 3 times in a row. The second time also follow along with the lyrics. Then the next day just listen to it 2 times in a row (NO MORE!!), and one time you can look at the lyrics if you want to. The third day listen to it once. That should do it! After that listen at will! Then go on to the next song! 🙂
