I’m joining Kat & the Unravelers for Unraveled Wednesday!
KNITTING:
I think I’ve finally found a groove. I cast on last night and ZOOM!

- I’ve finally figured out what this yarn wants to be, and
- I’ve cast on my first-ever Hitchhiker
!
I don’t even remember where this yarn came from or how long I’ve had it! There have been at least three false starts with other patterns, though. My only question now is whether I want to make my Hitchhiker bigger/add some contrasting stripes in the way that Bonny often does. Toothy garter stitch is just what I need, I guess.

I started a Pressed Flower Mitten a little while ago and I’m slowly finding a groove with that, too.

I was ready to throw it up the air, but I’m getting a little more comfortable & it looked a lot better when I last picked it up than I remember it looking when I put it down. The dark yarn is a lot more blue than it looks in the photo. Both of these yarns have also been cast on a couple of times for other things… mittens might be THE thing for it. Plus I’ll have scraps… there’s another scrappy project in my future (near or far, who knows, but there is…) (or perhaps the continuation of one already underway… haha).
READING:
I’m not reading anything of consequence at the moment, but found my next read at Goodwill yesterday.

I read The Illustrated Herdwick Shepherd by James Rebanks a few years ago; The Farmer’s Wife: My Life in Days is the first book written by his wife, Helen.

I read that book recently. I found it to be okay – not great, but ok. What a life though (better her than me). That is going to be a gorgeous Hitchhiker.
What a wonderful Hitchhiker you’re knitting! Just like that, you’ve already got 12 teeth and growing. I find that toothy garter stitch is good for a lot of what ails me, and I hope it is for you, too. That Pressed Flower mitten looks quite good to me. It sounds like you’re on a roll with projects!
that yarn is absolutely meant to be a Hitchhiker – those specks of color just pop in garter stitch! (and … I’m still a HH virgin … maybe the last one?)
That is some gorgeous yarn, Vicki! Welcome to the Hitchhiker Club! It is wonderful!
That is going to be a fabulous Hitchhiker! Thanks to Bonny, it’s become my go-to pattern when I have a skein of yarn that seems too busy for anything else and when I need something soothing and mostly mindless.
It feels so good when our knitting just clicks, so glad you’re having that moment right now!
I’m glad I’m not the only one with skeins that have tried to be more than one project. A hitchhiker is a great knit and the yarn looks like a great match. Enjoy.
