This is all at my house, except for the LUPINE — that’s at Ali’s! She has some Virginia bluebells, too, and it’s exciting to see what’s happening over there — so many things to discover!
My forsythia is blooming (finally)!
Fiddleheads, hostas, bleeding hearts, snowdrops & ligularia are all emerging (and/or blooming, as the case may be). I bet there are trout lilies & mayapples in the ravine.
The barberry had been dormant & I didn’t even know we had one until I cut down a burning bush — because it was blocking my view down the sidewalk. My kids were little & a view down the sidewalk was important. Now the barberry is about as big as the burning bush was & it’s blocking my view of grandkids!! (I do prune it… a little… once in a while.)
It’s sidewalk chalk season! I’m not sure who’s responsible for my new blue chair. haha.

I’m not sure that there is a more gorgeous time of year than this, especially if there are children (and adults) with sidewalk chalk! There is something heart-achingly beautiful about bleeding hearts and fiddleheads, and I need to get some sidewalk chalk of my own. Thanks for sharing all of the colorful beauty and blooms in your neighborhood.

Isn’t that one of the best things about a new house? Witnessing what pops up in the new garden!! (And your own, as well….especially if you’re like me and your forget what you’ve added where. Surprises.)
What beautiful photos. My bleeding heart is blooming too. And that blue chair – at first I thought maybe it was a flea market find with an unfinished coat of blue paint. The only better than sidewalk chalk is a jar of bubbles.
I love seeing all those signs of spring! I’ve wanted to plant lupines since I was a kid and read Miss Rumphius (Google tells me they will grow in PA, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen them). I laughed at the chair — gotta love kids and their ideas about redecorating!
Look at all those blooms! That blue chair reminds me of a story-line in Anne Tyler’s A Spool of Blue Thread about a porch swing. Happy Sunday!

Gorgeous flowers Vicki! Do you ever pick and cook the fiddleheads? My Mom loved them. Finally a few minutes to catch up on your blog! Geeze you’ve been busy. Junah has really matured! All the kids have. Ali’s house!!! I can’t believe you are going to Peru – how exciting.
I swear I had the same ‘blue’ chair except I bought mine in the 1970’s(early) it was black, I stripped it and painted it white with lime green overpaint. (Remember that color of green, lol) It moved with me a lot of places. Ending up in Japan with me at a military base. As my husband and I were getting ready for our final move, back to the States we had a yard ‘sale’ for all the things we had no more need for (dishes…already 2 sets in the US, transformers…no need, etc. ) I was not planning to get ride of the chair, it had been with me through 2 husbands and 1 child and multiple other things. A friend there to see what we were giving away (we really did just give things away, we had the use we wanted out of them already. And another side note, things kind of cycled around the communities overseas as people came and left.) ahem back to the story, The friend commented on the chair and asked if it was available. I thought about it and said, “Take it.” So I don’t know where it got itself off to now, lol.
